I have noticed in class and while shooting for this homework assignment, that there are two different outcomes while working with hard and soft lights. Hard light is good for when you want to really emphasize a subject and see it vividly. Soft light is good for when you want to keep the picture softer and not so harsh on the subject, allow for warmer colors and maybe some shadows. I agree that both hard and soft light can make an excellent picture but hard lights are more intense while soft lights are more dreamy in a way. I would say a good time to use a hard light is when you want a more intense, edger look and soft when you want a more delicate picture.

For my paper topic I would like to write about Petra Collins, a Canadian artist, photographer, fashion model and director. I particularly enjoy Collins work because I think her style is very unique and dreamlike. She emphasizes femininity and beauty in such a raw and interesting way.  I also admire her work as a director on music videos for some of my favorite artists. She is someone I could relate to and an artist I look up to.
